The exploratory research was conducted during the year 2016 in the subject Portuguese I, which is part of the curriculum of the Executive University Secretariat Career, in Puerto Iguazú, at the Faculty of Economic Sciences from Misiones National University; and was held during the second quarter of the year. The implementation of this metacognitive tool allowed the teaching team to obtain powerful information to frame the teaching proposal, to set assessment criteria for the learning achieved and to establish the existence of alternative conceptions for the purpose of reversing them. El propósito de esta publicación es mostrar la eficacia del uso de las entrevistas clínicas para llevar a cabo la evaluación diagnóstica inicial en una cátedra de portugués. La investigación exploratoria se efectuó durante el año 2016 en la asignatura Portugués I, perteneciente al plan de estudios de la carrera Secretariado Ejecutivo Universitario, de Puerto Iguazú, de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad Nacional de Misiones, la que se dictó en el primer año de la carrera durante el segundo cuatrimestre del ciclo lectivo del año. La implementación de esta herramienta metacognitiva permitió, al equipo docente, obtener información potente a fin de enmarcar la propuesta de enseñanza, fijar criterios de valoración de los aprendizajes logrados y establecer la existencia de concepciones alternativas a efectos de revertirlas.
