However, professors are not always prepared to discuss the socio-environmental theme with the authorities. Therefore, the need to know the curricular design in Mechanical Engineering on Environmental Education is the objective of this, that was carried out in a private university in Sao Paulo, with teachers of the Mechanical Engineering career. The data showed an attitude that tends to “ingenuity”, on the part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, about social and environmental problems, which is explained by the historical development of engineering, the profile of the course and the training of these professors. La educación ambiental, cuando se aplica en el aula, es una manera de cambiar las actitudes que permiten al estudiante construir una nueva manera de entender la realidad en la que vive, la promoción de la conciencia ambiental, la sostenibilidad y la ciudadanía. Pero no siempre los profesores se preparan para discutir el tema socio ambiental con las autoridades. Por lo tanto, la necesidad de conocer el diseño curricular en Ingeniería Mecánica de Educación Ambiental constituye el objetivo de esta que se llevó a cabo en una universidad privada en Sao Paulo, con docentes de la carrera Ingeniería Mecánica. Los datos mostraron una actitud que tiende a “ingenuidad” de la Facultad de Ingeniería Mecánica de los problemas sociales y ambientales, lo que se explica por el desarrollo histórico de la ingeniería, el perfil del curso y la formación de estos profesores. A Educação Ambiental, quando aplicada em sala de aula, é um caminho para mudar atitudes permitindo ao aluno construir uma nova forma de compreender a realidade em que vive, estimulando a consciência ambiental, a sustentabilidade e a cidadania. Porém, nem sempre os docentes estão preparados para discutir a temática socioambiental ao ministrarem as suas disciplinas. Assim, a necessidade de saber a concepção dos professores do curso de graduação em Engenharia Mecânica sobre Educação Ambiental constitui-se no objetivo desta pesquisa que foi realizada em uma Universidade particular da cidade de São Paulo, com docentes do curso de graduação em Engenharia Mecânica. Os dados obtidos demonstraram uma atitude tendendo a “ingenuidade” dos docentes de Engenharia Mecânica para as questões socioambientais, o que pode ser explicado pelo desenvolvimento histórico da Engenharia, pelo perfil do curso e pela formação profissional destes docentes.
