Description
Summary:Based on written and transmitted popular medicine found in the Guaranitic region of South America, some plants commonly used to treat infections, sickness and poisoning in humans or animals were selected as possible sources of useful drugs for applications in new pharmaceutical products. This paper reports the results obtained from Peschieria australis (Müell) Miers. Samples were taken from the Guaraní Department and from around Posadas City in the Province of Misiones (Argentina). Chemical extractions were made using the maceration method and the extracts’ antibacterial activity, was determined by the Kirby-Bauer difussion method.
