In this paper, a study about plywood manufactured with polyurethane adhesive based on castor oil and species of reforested Eucayiptus grandis tree is presented. The performance of the plywood was evaluated from the results of physical-mechanical rehearsals proposed by the Brazilian Association of Technical Norms-ABNT. The results indicate that castor oil-based polyurethane adhesive is suitable for the production of plywood.

Los productos derivados de madera son desarrollados con el objetivo de sustituir la madera sólida en sus variadas aplicaciones. Entre esos productos resalta el tablero de madera contraplacada, que presenta su utilización establecida en la industria de muebles y de la construcción civil. En el proceso de fabricación de ese tablero se utiliza adhesivos. Un adhesivo alternativo oriundo de recurso natural y renovable, el poliuretano a base de ricino, desarrollado por el Instituto de Química de São Carlos-USP, presenta la característica de no agresividad al medio ambiente y al ser humano. Así que este trabajo presenta un estudio sobre la utilización del adhesivo poliuterano a base de ricino, en la producción de tableros compensados, con láminas de la especie de forestación Eucayiptus grandis. La eficiencia del adhesivo fue evaluada por ensayos físico-mecánicos, presentados por la Asociación Brasileña de Normas Técnicas-ABNT. Los resultados indican que el adhesivo poliuretano a base de ricino es una alternativa viable para la producción de tableros de madera contraplacada.
