To determine antibacterial activity, the Kirby-Bauer method was used, meanwhile two methods were used for the antimicotic action, one by diffusion in paper discs and the other by addition of plant extracts in holes made to the agar. In testing conditions, the antibacterial activity was scanty, while the antifungal effect was demonstrated in a single method with different results.

Se ensayó la activad antimicrobiana de extractos crudos de Celtis spinosa Spreng obtenidos por maceración y soxhlet con solventes de distinta polaridad. Estos fueron enfrentados a bacterias Gram positivas y Gram negativas y a hongos filamentosos y levaduriformes. Para determinar la acción antibacteriana se utilizó el método de Kirby-Bauer, mientras que para la acción antimicótica se usaron dos métodos, uno por difusión en discos de papel y otro por agregado del extracto vegetal en pocillos efectuados en el agar. En las condiciones de prueba, la actividad antibacteriana fue escasa mientras que el efecto antifúngico fue demostrado en un solo método con resultados variables.
