This paper proposes a methodology to extend the dimensions in the strategic analysis that promotes innovation and a long-term perspective incorporating the concepts of economic, social and environmental decisions within the company. To do this, we have identified six strategic levels of analysis that are presented with its theoretical and managerial tools and management practices in forestry examples. Each level is based on the most important theoretical neoclassical and neo-institutional contributions of the past three decades. The separation of the levels has one purpose of facilitating the analysis, but it is necessarily interrelated and has feedback. It is shown that the limits of the company have expanded, and with that, the areas of managers responsibility.
