This article, written by sociologist Mike Michael, is the second chapter of the book Inventive Methods: The Happening of the Social edited by Celia Lury and Nina Wakeford constituting a significant contribution to the field of Sociology. Michael presents an innovative perspective on the anecdote and the “anecdotalization” pro- cess through the lens of renowned sociological theories (such as Bruno Latour’s Actor-Net Theory or Isabelle Stenger’s Rhetorical Figure of the Idiot) comparing and contrasting his viewpoint with other perspectives in the field.
