Description
Summary:This work was done to evaluate methodologies for germplasm in vitro preservation of tea. A Clone CH 14 INTA of breeding program of the EEA Cerro Azul – INTA was used. Two methods of short/medium term storage (low temperatures and suboptimal media) were evaluated. Low temperatures allowed the conservation of nodal segments and axillary buds -up to 5 months, with 73% and 67% survival, respectively. The use of suboptimal media had a similar response, with survival between 60 and 90% up to 120 days. In summary, it is possible to use short/ medium term conservation with germplasm tea.
