Description
Summary:The results of the research developed in a furrow irrigation system at the Tío Pedro Farm in the municipality of Venezuela, Ciego de Avila province, are shown. The objective of the work was to determine the hydraulic and energy indicators of irrigation by furrows to the efficient use of water and electric energy. The results indicate that the average flow rate of the pump measured by volumetric and float methods is 60 L s-1. The unit water losses in the main irrigation channel are 0,62 L s-1 m-1. Irrigation energy indicators: consumption of electric energy per unit volume (EV); Consumption of electric energy per unit of production (EP); Consumption of electric energy per unit of net profit (EB) reached global values of 0,56 kW m-3; 290 kW t-1; and 90 W $-1, with the best results corresponding to the tomato crop in all cases.
