Description
Summary:An enteroparasitologic prevalence study based on a coproparasitologic analysis and the Graham test were conducted, in order to evaluate the children population (between 1-12 years old) from Colony Aurora, Province of Misiones. The 89.1% of children had parasites. A prevalence of 22.9% for Uncinariasis and 6.9% for Estrongiloidiasis was found. Also, during 1999-2002, a serial coproparasitologic retrospective study was conducted; the population target was children younger than 6 years old with social security; the 60.5% of them were parasited. A 1.7% case of Uncinariasis and Estrongiloidiasis were found for each one. When comparing the case frequency of "children younger than 6 years old" sample from the prevalence study against "Children with social security which belongs to the free annual control program 2002" sample, a decrease of 39.6% cases was detected. In this last group, the 24.8% also had anemia, being the parasites found the major cause. In our study, "Los Toldos" and "El Anta" are identified as hot spots, considering them as points where health program should begin, focused on the parasites described.
