Description
Summary:Papanicolaou is a bloodless technique that shows phenotypic changes related to tisular organization and differentiation. In this study we evaluated the relation between genomic instability of 5q21–5q22 minisatellite and the Papanicolaou. DNA of Papanicolaou and blood samples from 69 women were isolated and amplified. No genetic changes in premalignant lesions were found. However, one allelic change was observed on DNA from cervix carcinoma. These findings may be related to a late change in the carcinogenesis process. The population analyzed was polymorphic showing 6 allelic forms (8–13) with heterozygosity rate of 0.33.
