La pobreza, como muchos otros conceptos económicos y sociales, es un fenómeno complejo de precisar. En general, se lo asocia a la carencia de recursos necesarios para satisfacer las necesidades de una población o grupo de referencia, sin tener la capacidad y oportunidad de producir esos recursos necesarios. Como es un fenómeno complejo y multidimensional, existen múltiples definiciones y maneras de medirla. Las herramientas que provee la teoría de los conjuntos borrosos permiten captar los grises presentes en el nivel de vida de la población, matices que se presentan no solo por fenómenos de naturaleza subjetiva, sino también por fenómenos de carácter situacional y coyuntural. En este trabajo se presenta un modelo para poder clasificar a los hogares de acuerdo con los grados de pertenencia al conjunto de hogares indigentes y pobres. Se determinan grados de pobreza e indigencia teniendo en cuenta los ingresos del hogar y la valorización de la Canasta Básica Alimentaria y la Canasta Básica Total.
