description | The study describes the conditions of human development according to labor welfare and satisfaction with healthcare services from staff employed with an indefinite term contract before January 1997 in health institutions of tertiary care in the city of Medellin (Colombia). It was performed a cross-sectional study designed to measure these components of human development through surveys applied on the staff with the described conditions, without any difference of academic, socioeconomic status or type of position. It was included a population of 1622 persons from five institutions, with a final sample of 242.Among the key findings is highlighted the high degree of staff satisfaction related to received in healthcare services for both, the worker and their beneficiaries; as well as the supply of medicines and diagnostic aids; besides the satisfaction with the work performed in the company and the feeling of being useful and important to it, they find out it is difficult to have promotions by merit and recognition for their work. As factors to strengthen in these institutions are the establishing clear policies for promotion and recognition. |

El estudio describe las condiciones de Desarrollo Humano, según el bienestar laboral y satisfacción con los servicios de salud recibidos, del personal vinculado laboralmente con contrato a término indefinido antes de enero de 1997 en instituciones de salud de tercer nivel de atención en la ciudad de Medellín (Colombia). Se realizó un Estudio descriptivo transversal orientado a medir estos componentes del Desarrollo Humano mediante encuestas aplicadas al personal con las condiciones descritas, sin diferenciación de formación académica, estrato socioeconómico o tipo de cargo. Se incluyó una población de 1622 personas pertenecientes a cinco instituciones, con una muestra final de 242. Entre los principales hallazgos se destaca el alto grado de satisfacción del personal vinculado con los servicios recibidos en la atención en salud tanto para el trabajador como para sus beneficiarios, así como con el suministro de medicamentos y ayudas diagnósticas; además de la satisfacción con la labor desempeñada en la empresa y el sentimiento de ser útil e importante para ella, consideran difícil tener ascensos por méritos y reconocimiento por el trabajo realizado. Como factores a fortalecer en estas instituciones están el establecimiento de políticas claras para los ascensos y reconocimientos.
