Murder of Marta del Castillo
On January 24, 2009, Marta del Castillo Casanueva (born July 19, 1991), a Spanish high school student disappeared and was presumably murdered in Seville, Andalusia, Spain. The disappearance of Marta del Castillo was considered a case that "impacted Spanish society" and received significant media coverage, which at times her case was considered a "media circus".On several occasions, the prime suspect and Marta's ex-boyfriend Miguel Carcaño Delgado successively stated that her body was in different areas, such as the Guadalquivir River and giving different versions of the murder. Despite extensive searches and the conviction of Carcaño in 2011, her body has never been found.
